Started in 1973 to showcase the history of San Francisco and Oakland Blues, the San Francisco Blues Festival is the longest running Blues festival in the United States. Under founding producer Tom Mazzolini, the festival went on to present the entire range of West Coast Blues throughout the 70’s. As of today every major Blues artist has performed at this September festival. Mazzolini also hosts the longest running Blues radio program in the Bay Area, which runs weekly on KPFA in Berkley In addition to the San Francisco Blues Festival, Tom has also produced numerous Blues concerts and events in San Francisco. In 1997 the Mayor of San Francisco declared September 20-21 as Tom Mazzolini Weekend in recognition for his contributions to the music community.
