Lea Gilmore’s It’s A Girl Thang: Women in the Blues was created in 1997 by chief content provider Gilmore and Webmaster/funder Paul ‘P.W.’ Fenton. The site features historical profiles of women artists, interviews with contemporary artists, as well as features about women behind-the-scenes. The site is nonprofit, but through links to Amazon.com, it has earned a small amount of revenue, all of which it donates to support the Musicmaker Relief Foundation. The site is one of the most popular Blues destinations on the web, and has been linked to the majority of Blues sites in the world. The site has twice been featured on the BBC as a Best of the Web selection.
