In 1917, WC. Handy and Henry Pace started Pace and Handy Publishing in Memphis, Tennessee. The following year, Handy relocated to New York City He and Pace dissolved their partnership and Handy started Handy Brothers Music Company, Inc., which will celebrates 80 amazing years in the music business in July 1998. The Handy trademark is ‘Genuine American Music’ and their slogan is ‘The House that Handy Built.’ The mission of Handy Brothers Publishing is to perpetuate W C. Handy’s name and sell his music for the world to continue to enjoy the ‘Father of the Blues.’
