Though this Brit began his musical career as a guitarist and bass player, John Porter has solidified his place in music history through his decades of expertise as a music producer. As a producer of Blues records, John Porter has a resume like few others. In 2006 alone, he has been at the controls of the John Lee Hooker four CD set, Hooker, and the Buddy Guy four-disc set, Can’t Quit These Blues. In 2003, the Year of the Blues, Porter produced seven CDs in The Blues series. From 1990 to the present, Porter has been the producing hand on recordings by B.B. King, Buddy Guy, John Lee Hooker, Taj Mahal, R.L. Burnside, Lucky Peterson, Jon Cleary, The Phantom Blues Band, John Mayall, Keb’ Mo’, John Dee Holman, Algie Mae Hinton and Otis Rush.
