Ottawa BluesFests Blues in the Schools program was created to promote, preserve and perpetuate the art, culture and heritage of Blues music. Since its beginning in 1999, the program has grown from two Ottawa-area schools to reaching over 6,000 students in 27 schools. Blues in the Schools takes place for two weeks every spring. Students who take part in the program gain valuable knowledge of Blues heritage by getting firsthand instruction from various Blues artists who contribute 350 hours of in-class instruction over a two-week period. This years program takes place April 28 May 9.
