Set in 2005, Treme is the story of post-Katrina New Orleans told through a diverse group of residents. Central to New Orleans’ rebirth is the music of the city. As the city where the American art forms of jazz and blues freely mixed, this series consistently features local and national musicians, either performing as part of the episode or with their music as the background of the scene. On any given episode, one can hear the music or see a performance of Irma Thomas, Dr. John, Allen Toussaint, the Neville Brothers, Clarence “Frogman” Henry, Deacon John, Trombone Shorty, Mem Shannon, Walter “Wolfman” Washington, Henry Butler, and others. At the same time, the local sounds of the Rebirth Brass Band, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Galactic, Kermit Ruffins, the subdudes, the Radiators, and George Porter, along with modern songsters like Steve Earle, John Hiatt, Shawn Colvin, and Lucinda Williams make up this eclectic soundtrack.
